Throne

A new throne for Zethan, placement in daddy's car. mummy is screaming unfair as she fought hard to get this car seat yet mummy only get the used car seat from daddy's. wishful thinking on mummy's part to have the new throne in her car.
daddy's car is vivid blue so naturally it's light blue for Zethan's new throne which is from Maxi Cosi. So why this brand, curious readers might ask. well, frankly speaking it's mummy's preference though she did consider Britax. It has always been in mummy that Maxi Cosi (MC) is naturally the brand that pop up in her when it comes to safety restraints in the car so it's a case of MC cabriofix for the infant seat and MC Priori SPS for the carseat.
Zethan sure look at ease in his new throne and he is the tallest among the three when seated in it.

Steamboat cum Playdate

it has been a while since the kids had a playdate. mummy was initially rather upset that they would have to miss this much awaited playdate. fortunately the mummies welcome Zethan despite of his cough.

it was a more than pleasant night and the kids, the mummies, the hubs enjoyed themselves thoroughly. interestingly the kids are able to interact much more 'efficiently' with their baby language as well as initiating games with each other. a pity did not catch a shot of Cayden and Zethan playing peekaboo with the curtain and giggling away! not to mention Zethan hogging Jon's honk - a cool Beemer!
it was observed that Zethan had this bad habit, he love to join the crowd and snatch the toys that others are having. once he have it, he will not pay much attention to it and carry on to the next. not very healthy!

the adults had a hearty steamboat dinner, yummilicious shabu shabu all thanks to Aunty Ange for the preparation of food. must have been quite a mess created which required a fair bit of cleaning!
oh yes, Wii-ing as well. Aunty Ophelia is so excited in her Mario game that she screamed, squealed in excitement. watch it, the little one! hee

last but not least the MJ session for the hubs! Great company for a coolz night!

Eventful week

It started off when Zethan had a sudden onset of high fever ~ 38.8 on mon afternoon. after a dose of paracetamol, it went down.

the same night, mummy had a fever, went to GP, given 2 days medical leaves.

tue noon, Zethan's fever surfaced again with high of 39 and low of 38. best thing is Kidslink is closed in the noon with only night session. looking at the high temperature, mummy decide to bring Zethan to Dorothy's. so it's viral infection, what's new. to dd on, sore throat, blocked nose, cough! temperature monitoring every hr or so and his temperature is worst off than stock exchange. fortunately Zethan is still very active otherwise will be a major concern.

shoot up to 39.4 always when night approach when all appear well in the daytime of average 38. This went on for a good 3 nights. if not for kidslink being closed on thur noon & night, it would be another trip to the PD.

finally the fever cleared on fri morning but the cough looks firm to stay. a few episodes of pukes with phlegm which is a good thing rather than it remain in the throat.

today is equally bad. Zethan refused all his meals regardless of solids or milk feeds. well, not total rejection but taking real little, much worst than when he's having fever. morning milk >140ml, puke twice! lunch - porridge, consumed less than 1/2 resulting in more pukes, mess + dirty Zethan who had just bathed! tea - milk feed, >90ml!

oh man!

14 months

Zethan turns 14 months old yesterday. A review on his achievements recently.

Walk / run. Yes, it is a challenge to keep up with him now either at home or out. He even protest in the stroller or when in the arms of mummy / daddy, looks like he prefer the freedom of walking around, exploring at his whim and fancy.
Bath - mummy has decided he is a big boy now so to bathe him minus the baby tub. She turn oblivious that Zethan might whine or cry with the shower head over his head after shampooing and go all the way out. To her surprise, Zethan did very well, not even a single whine heard.

Imitation - He observed and imitate actions such as opening of baby gate, fridge etc. even grandma's action to fling the dust off his stinky pillow when it dropped to the floor. another interesting point noted, you know what the older folks always loved to do when baby falls and hit himself / herself, hit the floor or whatsoever and miraculously never failed to hush the baby. Well, of course Zethan picked it up from grandma and he does it too when he knocks / falls. either that or he will attempt angrily to bite the whatsoever to vent his anger. just today, mummy saw him picking up a pen and dotting on a booklet.
what he needs to work harder on.

speech - besides the usual babbling, he has been going around mum mum (eat) very frequently since few days back. not too certain if he associate it with food but appear so at certain occasions. other than that, he seem to be very slow in speech. come to things he would like to have, he rather pointing then opening and closing his fists as if to show 'give me' or 'come here'.

tantrums - taking a turn for the worst for certain. take away anything he insist on having result in screams and yells. not given what he fancy also scream. to express his dislike - scream. it can be a really pain in the neck and frustration set in ever so readily (referring to the mummy). mummy have realised that the hard approach should not be attempted on him otherwise major meltdown. yet she is concerned if he will turn into a spoilt brat if all give in to him most if not all the time.

food - he is still too lazy to chew his food and swallow directly most of his food. it is nearly impossible to feed slightly textured food as he will keep them in his cheeks. so soft food such as porridge remain his favourite. amazingly he will chew his snacks but not other food! a classic example this morning, mummy took the trouble to prepare scrambled egg for his breakfast and the aftermath is meltdown, frustration, mess and a hamster-cheeked Zethan.

attention span is still terribly short, no patience for reading or demonstration (say toys). even when it comes to his favourite cartoon, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, the max is 15mins before he moved and return to focus for another couple of mins.

it has been a while since his weight / height are taken but visually it is pretty obvious he has slimmed down which mummy frown upon.

1st Walk outdoor

Zethan experience his 1st walk outdoor at one of the family's favourite mall ~ IMM

last sunday, after dinner, mummy decide to let Zethan try out walking in the mall. She would like Zethan to 'experiment' with walking out beside home so that he would get used to walking with his shoes on, guess it should be a different feel for him.

He enjoyed it initially but moments later he turned back and asked to be carried. suspect it's due to the overwhelming crowd that frighten him somehow. mummy and daddy have learnt that allowing him to roam freely in the toys section is a big no - no as he scream and fuss when it's time to go.

a pity mummy did not have her camera with her thus no pictures! oh, what a waste.

Sick

runny nose...

cough....

feed medication..

vomit...

bath again...

Trying! Zethan started coughing quite badly on sunday morning while the sniffles show since thursday. wonder if it could be associated with teething.

the cough sound very phlegmy which mummy feared since the phobia from the last experience is unforgettable.of course it is of no help when he puke after downing the medication resulting in another bath when the last was just 20mins back. that aside, it might be a good sign since the puke look rather sticky / phlegmy.

mummy is a little concerned since she notice that apparently Zethan seem to get the sniffles & coughs every other month. sound too often for comfort!

teething

over the weekend when mummy is playing with Zethan that she discovered Zethan could be cutting 4-5 teeth concurrently. It is no easy feat to feel / peep into his mouth especially when he put up a strong resistance either clamping his mouth real tight or biting real hard so much it always leave some teeth marks on the finger.

so the discovery came when mummy was playing with Zethan by pretending that he is a small infant in the cradle position. It has been a good 8 months or so he wasn't held in this manner simply cause he refused to be! so Zethan totally enjoyed it and giggles happily with mouth wide open. What better opportunity to peep into his mouth. To her surprise, she notice his upper lateral incisors are cutting (whitish), upper left cuspid buldging, lower left lateral incisor cut through.

for the past week or so, his appetite dipped badly due to one reason or another. milk feeds reduced drastically, solids reduced marginally. mummy knew that the 'good times' are only momentary so now it back for 'revenge'. there is no way to judge his appetite if it's due to teething which will be genuine or simply one of his tantrum throwing antics!

anyhow mummy have decided if Zethan refused his meals / feeds, she will definitely leave him alone and go hungry if he insist. she is not going to compromise and provide early meals just because of that. she see no point in forcing him to finish his meals / feeds which only end up in frustration for both parties. Zethan has to learn his lesson. fuss / cry = had enough of food = food removed = no more food till next mealtime. Patience ran thin, tolerated more than supposed to. Period!

Daddy

Zethan's daddy must have been one of the most fortunate daddies in the whole wide world. why is that so? simply because he isn't a very pro-active daddy since pregnancy time all the way till this point when Zethan is about to turn 14 months. all this while he has been using the 'excuse' that Zethan is a little too young and fragile thus he has no confidence handling him totally.

so just last sunday, mummy decide to 'force' daddy to bathe Zethan while she stayed beside them giving step by step instructions! sounds weird right, aren't bathing Zethan supposed to be the same as how daddy bathe himself??!!! anyhow give him some credit for attempting the 1st, they always say practise make perfect right. Zethan is a little skeptical and fearful, think he can sense the fear and anxiety from daddy thus making him very insecure.

daddy is also participating more in terms of care giving as mummy make him prepare Zethan's morning feed as well as feeding him as this little guy here still refuse to 'self feed'. for a long while mummy wake to do it herself as she do not wish to disturb daddy's sleep. not untill weeks back when she feels burnt out and decided she need a little more beauty sleep as well (talking about weekend). as for weekdays, she had to rush through preparing for work so the feeding had to be left to daddy (grandma usually comes in at around 8.30am).

the next task / challenge for daddy shall be diapering! this is going to be a major challenge since it is so tough to put on diaper for Zethan ever since like he's 7 months old. nontheless, daddy would still have to attempt!

Walk 2

Evidence of the little guy happily venturing longer distance. act smart lugging his toy when he isn't very stable in walking!
