Promoted

as mentioned in the previous post, Zethan was promoted on Christmas Day. Baby cousin was borned!

Arrived at 02.49am, being the 3rd Christmas baby in Mount Alvernia. measured 51cm (taller than Zethan) and weigh 2850g as she is about 37weeks 5 days gestation thereabout which should be considered good weight bearing in mind she is a girl. yes she is such a sweetie pie.

okay, be forewarned, Zethan's position in the family being at risk, probably at high risk of being overtaken by the newborn! hee

Sick

mummy went out of town on a company trip just before christmas as mentioned in the previous post.

All went well till grandma called mummy on the handphone and instantly mummy knew that something must be not quite right when she see her number. Zethan is having a fever, once in the morning at 37.7, went off in the noon and return in the night amid his sleep at 38.8 thus prompting the call.

mummy advise grandma to send Zethan to a 24hrs GP judging at the time. even though it could be sparked off by teething but mummy decide not to take any chance since the temperature is rather high. grandma said that out of the blue she spotted his top incisors and appear to be both cutting at the same time. He is unusually clingy and fussy and teething gel only works for a short while.

quite amazingly, mummy experience an episode of overwhelming emotion earlier in the day. she saw a big group of toddlers or perhaps young children and tears just swarmed andshe had to fight back the tears. is this supposed to be called mother's instinct?

anyhow luckily all is cleared for Zethan otherwise mummy will be worried sick yet helpless when she is not with him. so as planned, Zethan came to pick mummy up and took the opportunity to tour around T3. unfortunately the viewing gallery isn't quite near for a good view and the one at T2 is going through transformation. Zethan went on his 1st ride on the skytrain as he have not been on the train before. he did caught sights of planes landing.

1st Christmas

wow the last few days are really packed with loads of activities, hardly had time to take a breather!

on Christmas eve, Zethan attended his very 1st Christmas party at No. 6 (Aunt Jermaine played host). even though Zethan might not be able to apprehend what's happening, nonetheless it's still his 1st festive celebration. not to forget, thanks to Aunt Jermaine for his 1st Christmas pressie ~ a cute teddy bear.

Zethan did not managed to countdown to Christmas with the gang as he fell asleep after his milk feed, about 10 mins short to Christmas. however he woke half an hour later in time for the gift exchange. He was all tired out as the party ended around 1am.

oh was it mentioned that Zethan was officially promoted in the family as his baby cousin was borned on Christmas Day! How cool is that.

Christmas day was equally hectic, blamed it on mummy and daddy as they have to shop at the last min for Zethan's pressies followed by visiting his baby cousin at Mount Alvernia (that's another 1st??) mummy insisted for daddy to buy a Christmas pressie for Zethan as well but end of the day it was mummy who selected the pressie. Mummy bought 3 small Tonka toy cars (dump truck, tow truck, fire engine) for Zethan while daddy bought a Mega Bloks lil Front loader for him. they are all wrapped so as to allow Zethan to open the pressie and discover the treasures!

despite the day ended late again after visiting baby cousin but Zethan still managed to open all his pressies in time before Christmas draws to an end.

Ho Ho Ho....Merrry Christmas!!!

Zethan, mummy and daddy would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to 2010.

the past week was pretty rough as Zethan came down with fake measle and he was all cranky and whiny especially so in the middle of the night which was really hard work for mummy. shall blog in more details when time permits.

Zethan is still amid his 2 hours nap and counting. Looks like he is on the right track preparing for a roaring good time on his 1st Christmas party later in the night.

11 months

Happy 11th month-sary to Zethan! counting down to one more month before the big bang ~ Zethan is ONE!

in fact Zethan's bash will be held on 9th Jan 2010 instead as it is a saturday. mummy is really bad as all she had gotten ready at this moment is a customized banner and yet to be collected! having said that, mummy isn't going to have a big scale celebration for Zethan, nothing fanciful ~ no fancy decor, no fancy cake.

Zethan is very vocal these days with very clear ba-ba, da-da (beating / hitting). Don't think there's any association of ba-ba with daddy. He displayed his displeasure by shouting and yelling loudly, using so much force till the whole face turn red. of course he does try to get by his 'wrong doings' by crying out loud 1st when discovered.

He love to pretend to cry when he is alone in his playpen hoping to attract some attention and best will be give him a cuddle or carry.

milk intake wasn't improving that much and daily intake average to only about 400ml which is really pathetic. He tried chye sim, threadfin, brocolli this month. just this morning, mummy and grandma brought Zethan for his very 1st Macdonalds meal. he few some hotcakes which he did not enjoyed very well and taken some hash brown too (just the interior potato). Looks like Zethan has a very chinese inclined palate with porridge as his all time favorite. what's planned out for the following week will be kampong chicken egg yolk, kampong chicken, sweet potato, japanese pumpkin, spinach (yim choy), xiao bai chye, carrot.

learning the concept of sharing? this might be just an coincidence but mummy kind of taught Zethan how to share by using his stinky pillow. Zethan is sniffing his stinky pillow when mummy said Zethan, share with mummy and pull his hand with pillow towards mummy for a sniff. perhaps it's just a repetition of mimic of action, he did it subsequently.

saying goodbye is either by holding up his left hand without any movements or crunching and opening his hands like twinkle little star. in relations to milk, he will sign milk milk with both hands.

still cruising and only managed to stand hands free for a slightly longer period, say about 5-10 seconds at most. He can 'walk' by taking a step and leaping to the nearest support.

that's about all mummy can recall which is no easy feat as she has very limited memory capacity basically. nonetheless, progress of Zethan can be updated progressively whenever possible.

looking forward to his 1st Christmas, 1st New Year and definitely not to be missed 1YO bash!

p/s ~ 3hrs passed since mummy dropped Zethan off at grandma's and she is starting to miss him oready, 7 more days to go!

Eating Habits

Zethan has this eating habit which should be classified as good eating habit. whenever his mouth is 'full' or rather food is still present in his mouth , he will not open his mouth for another feed!

He will take his time to chew the food till it was swallowed before another helping can be offered.

apparently he seem to down very little milk once again, wonder if it's a sign that he need another change of FM again. after some fact findings, it could be attributed by omiting the last feed as he would have been in bed usually. the thing about him is that he will refuse to move his mouth and suck when asleepy thus no longer can dream feed.

on a happy note, he is starting to suck from his pigeon sippy cup, from the straw! yes it might be a little late as most of his peeps have started straw long ago but hey better be late than never. mummy is glad he manage it since it has been weighing on her about Zethan's inability to suck from straw!

oh yes, the little guy is turning 11 months old tomorrow. hopefully mummy can find time to blog about his progress tomorrow as she would have to do last minute preparations for her trip on sun. which would means mummy isn't seeing Zethan for a whopping 7 days, considered as a 1st (the last was in April but rather short trip of 2 days). will mummy miss Zethan badly?

BB Gal

Zethan is being mistaken for a baby gal again by the new neighbour next door! faintz!

mummy thought that with the new hairstyle, Zethan had abandoned the girlie looks for good. For a long while nobody had commented that he is a baby girl not untill now.....

According to old wives' tale, when firstborn had appearance of a baby girl when he is a boy, the #2 will be a baby girl! as the saying goes, he will bring a sister.

true or not, you have gota wait for quite a while to decide if there's some truth to it afterall though the older folks swear by it.

Fish

Zethan had steamed threadfin today and he seem to take it pretty well although the flakes had to be fine otherwise he has some difficulty downing it.

double boiled the porridge with lean pork, chopped chye sim leaves and diced carrots. afterwhich add the threadfin to continue cooking for about 10 mins or so.

here u go...a super satisfied looking big boss relaxing in his high chair. ah beng in the making!

mummy thought that Zethan smell a tad fishy probably because of his perspiration?

Stroller

must admit that mummy is a tad stroller fanatic as she bought another stroller for Zethan again. technically it have not been decided if it's mummy or daddy who bought it (mummy have yet to claim from daddy, you see).

why another stroller then since Buzz have been serving very well, definitely no doubts about it. the only complain about Buss is that it is rather bulky when folded to be placed in the boot thus taking quite abit of space. So this new stroller shall serve good especially when it's a short shopping trip.

put it into use on sat for a trip to Jurong Point. Zethan can even 'kiao kar' in it, such a lazy bum he is!

verdict ~ easy to manouver around, rather lightweight, nice shopping basket, pretty spacious for Zethan, flexible elevation (many levels since it's not fixed) and fold in the boot nicely. only complain, should Zethan fall asleep in it, legs will bended and dangling, don't sound good for comfort.

on a side note, the above picture shows who is boss!

Porridge

this week on the menu, double boiled porridge consisting of lean pork, brocolli, chinese spinach and millet.

yes, grandma still insist that double boiled porridge is the best for babies. no doubt about the taste which is really yummy however mummy is concerned about Zethan being too comfortable with the runny porridge that he gets too lazy with other textures.

Mummy start Zethan on Childlife Colostrum next sat and so far all's well, no signs of allergy.

coming back to porridge, mummy is glad that at least Zethan love his porridge from the beginning till now (crossed fingers & toes). The lest is he finished his porridge most if not all the time otherwise it will be worrying since Zethan does not take his milk feeds very much. daily consumption can vary from the good of 600ml to 340ml on a bad day.

so the next concern will be, will Zethan obtain sufficient nutrients and calcium with his current diet. He is not exactly taking meat since it is only used to add flavour to his porridge. tried to feed him minced pork but he will gagged and refuse the porridge. though babies develop differently and he might not be ready yet, peers of his age are taking fish and meat very well by comparison. Hmm, wonder if there's any cause for concern.

Next on the menu ~ Kampong chicken egg yolks and fish (threadfin). yoghurt which is good for supplementing calcium intake is subjective for Zethan. Good days he finished the whole tub of Baby Yogplait and bad days perhaps only at most 5 spoonfuls.
