Energizer bunny

did not get to identify the cause and was uncertain as to why Zethan is super duper cranky today and demand to be carried for a good whole day, refused to nap either on the bed or sarong. Once in the sarong, he will flipped and fuss and cried till it sound as though he's being abused, big drops of tears and mucus down the nose!

well it started on Fri before our Fidgets gathering. He napped for like 30mins after his early lunch. Seeing that daddy is late thus mummy decide to let him nap before setting off as he's cranky. Not sure if it's a wise move as mummy had to wake him up after 20mins when daddy is here, not that he does fuss upon waking. This energizer bunny stayed up till 6+pm before he Ko-ed obviously very stimulated by the surrounding people and environment. After a power nap of 30mins, he woke in the car. Imagine with that little nap throughout the day, he head for bed only at 10+pm after his last feed!sat was considerably managable but the same thing occur, nap for 30mins every 4-5 hours block which is pretty unusual since Zethan's norm is 2 hrs nap especially in the noon. Because of his weird behaviour, had to go under 'house arrest' for sat! On the other hand, it was a blessing that he is doing well in his milk feeds.

Today is seriously a rough day as after the 1 hour nap and waking for lunch, Zethan refused to be rocked in the sarong neither napping on the bed. he will flipped non stop, watch television, whine and fuss abit here and there. Once in the sarong, he will immediately flipped, hold his head up and start to whine after a while. If ignored the sound-like-being-abused cries kicked in. Not that mummy insisted to rock him in the sarong but he can only nap for like 30mins max on the bed as opposed to being in the sarong which yield at least a good 1 hour.

After the 4pm nap is horrendous, he refused to even be on his own on the bed. Cry and fuss so badly untill mummy picked him up and demanded to be carried / cuddle the whole day thereafter otherwise outburst of cries and serious sniffles which last for a good 4 hours. ironically mummy managed to maintain her composure instead of being frustrated as she tell herself that something is just not right with Zethan, just not he is unable to express himself. well, after the most recent milk saga, mummy constantly remind herself that when meltdowns occur at this age, nothing much can be done in terms of supposedly discipline thus bear with him though require lots of patience but rough it out! plans to go grocery shopping down the drain, the rain plays a part as well.

on a cheerful note, while co sleeping with mummy and daddy this morning, Zethan 'accidentally' shove his pacifier into mummy's mouth! luckily mummy does not sleep with her mouth wide open. Zethan had a splashing good time during bath resulting in huge pool of water on the platform! daddy remarked should bring him swimming as he seem to love it.

Fidgets

A few of the babies with mummies decide to check out Fidgets located at Turf City. Mummy recee the place prior to this gathering and think it's a nice place to chill out with a spacious cafe and there's a small play area for the babies.try out Beco carrier, Zethan look comfy in it and not very taxing on mummy's back, pic taken to show daddy *got the hint*

Vital Stats

mummy and grandma did something silly earlier (actually it's just mummy's silly idea), they measured Zethan's vital stats.
what spark off this acitivity is when grandma passed a remark - once his head is just the size of an apple, look how he has grown! mummy suddenly recalled that during the assessments, the doc actually measured the circumference of baby's head thus she whipped out her measuring tape.

so here you go, presenting Zethan's vital statistics at 7.5 months (yes he turned 7.5 months today!).......

Head ~ 45cm
Chest ~ 47cm
Wasit ~ 52cm
Bum ~ 47cm
Feet ~ 11cm
Height ~ 71cm or thereabout

from the vital stats, can you imagine Zethan to be a water barrel? since his chest and bum is of the same width and waist is larger than the top and bottom! Keke

Anyhow just for fun cos mummy and grandma had fun laughing away!

Beanie

mummy customised a beanie for Zethan with his name and initial but he hate it to the core and attempt to pull it off everytime he has it on.

Well, mummy had knew it coming anyway. Perhaps take a while before he gets accustomed to having it on **crossing fingers**

daddy commented that he look like 'Dian Xiao Er' meaning the serving staffs in ancient times.

oh a quick note before it slipped mummy's mind again. Zethan is getting real vocal recently by calling out to people using "EH" real loud. mummy constantly try her luck to correct him with 'darling, call ah ma / mummy / daddy and not EH'.

Giggles

Dependent on his mood, at times Zethan can really laugh out loud with silly actions or plain simple words. Evidence as follows, mummy finally managed to catch him on video on the 'twinkle star' or baby sign for milk towards the end of the video.

Positive

Before all started to send congratulatory messages, no it's absolutely not what you could be thinking about.

Zethan and mummy went for a trial lesson at Positive Babies located at United Square.

Prior to the lesson, mummy experience some mad rush with Zethan and got to realise that Zethan's stranger anxiety is heightening. Met up some aunties for coffee and out of the sudden, Zethan cry out loud in fright thus mummy had to carry and pacify him. As he pooped so mummy make a trip to the nursing room and all was well untill a woman enter the room (just to fetch the hot water from the dispenser). She is being kind to compliment Zethan for being adorable and when she get too close for comfort, trigger off the alarm in Zethan again. It was clear that he is crying out in fear which put mummy in a fix since she is half done with cleaning Zethan! geez.

Anyway back to the feedback on the positive babies lesson. Mummy enjoyed the lesson lots and feel that she much needed the reinforcement on positivity when it comes to communicating with Zethan. In fact she had all these skills taught before but it was all out of the window after not putting for practise for donkey years. Now the thing is throughtout the whole lesson, Zethan refused to be seated! He is okay with all the music and movement stuff only if held standing but defeat the purpose of some activities which yield results best seated.

Toward the end of the lesson, mummy was being asked on what she observed in any change in Zethan after the lesson. Well, it is definitely fruitful and encourging to indentify that Zethan's eye tracking skill improve tremendously as displayed over the 'bubbles time'. This isn't the 1st he had been subjected to bubbles. However for today's bubble time, he is all focused on tracking down the bubbles, following them with head turned and even attempt to reach out for the bubbles. Guess this observation in Zethan made the trial worthwhile the fee.

mummy is seriously considering to sign up for the package which is pretty reasonable but on the hindsight, she is concerned over Zethan's refusal to be seated for most part of the lesson.

7 mos

in a blink of eyes, Zethan turn 7 months a week back. Okay just a figure of speech but seriously figured that very soon he will be One!

in terms of food, Zethan is doing great with exception of milk feed which can improve for 1-2 weeks before dipping again. Suspect he's cutting tooth again most probably the top front incisors? List of homemade purees (fruits and vegetables) he tried till date in order of his preferences (favourites to least).

- Butternut Squash

Pears, chinese spinach and Australian pumpkins in the pipeline. He love his cereals be it plain/brown rice (Healthy Times, Organix, Heinz, Earth Best) or oatmeal cereals (Happy Bellies, Earth Best).

Milestones under his belt.
- flipped in all directions (even in sarong)
- sit unsupported for short period of time (wobbly still)
- Babbling; smile, giggle, scream, shout (his forte!)
- 2 lower incisors
- grapsing and most if not all goes into his mouth
- toes grabbing and sucking. perhaps due to perspiration which taste saltish, he gives a sulky face at times.
- standing (of cos with support, his favourite pastime)
- wave goodbye. well mummy and grandma is convinced that he did wave goodbye which is hard flapping his left hand.

by comparison with improvements needed during 6th month blog.

- fine motor skill (improved, reaching out for items he is keen in)
- Car Seat (can't complained more, at most whipped out the ultimate tutu and stinky pillow which works in keeping him occupied)
- Milk feeds (yoyoing still!)
- weight (YES, hit 8kg and slightly more which is like a bonus)

current list of what's requiring improvements.
- Crawling. Still no signs of leopard crawling or on fours.
- Milk feeds. what's next anyway, next!
- stranger anxiety. cling to mummy like koala bear in strange environment. out of sight result in loud pathetic sobbing.
- socialising. Zethan took a long while to warm up and socialise be it adults or with babies.
- short tempered. Yes he is showing his temper oready especially displeasure, out loud!

Pre National Day

Zethan celebrated his 1st National Day with 2 of his buddies in Aunty Ange's house. Thanks Aunty Ange for the invitation and making a mess out of your house.

The 3 hunks are dressed in red and/or white and the photos turned out coolz with the exception that it took Zethan a long while to warm up for a group photo. He is such a sticky tape and cling on to mummy like a koala bear.
